We are committed to inspiring the STEM innovators of tomorrow

That’s why we engage young Abu Dhabi students through “lema?” – an ADEC innovation program that delivers fun and interactive classroom workshops to expand science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) knowledge amongst youth, while inspiring Abu Dhabi’s future science and technology leaders.

Through a variety of workshops and shows featuring specially-trained science

communicators, “lema?” aims to support a key focus of ADEC’s educational reform  agenda, the Abu Dhabi Plan and the UAE National Innovation Strategy by cultivating and nurturing the talent of the Emirate’s future scientists, innovators and entrepreneurs, helping them build the capabilities they require to compete globally.

When it comes to STEM, the most influential time in a young person’s life is between the ages of 6 and 11; if children express an interest in STEM subjects at this age, they are much more likely to pursue a career in a related field later in life.

Therefore, the program seeks to ignite a passion for STEM among pupils in Grades 3 to 7 by complementing their school curricula with exciting, hands-on experiences. Students are engaged and inspired through shows about health/human biology, space and aviation, as well as workshops on ICT and robotics/programing.

With the support of its Platinum Sponsor, Mubadala, “lema?” has reached more than 150,000 students in private and public schools across Abu Dhabi since its launch in 2012, and the program continues to grow and enthrall young learners throughout the Emirate.

Number of students in Jiu-Jitsu Program in Schools (2011-2014)
Starting 2012 until 2014, the Jiu-Jitsu program will be implemented for national students only. In 2012 and 2013, national students from grade6 to 8 will be included in the program. Towards the end of 2013, the program will include grades 9 and 10 as well.
The number of Jiu-Jitsu lessons per week will be reduced to one. The other lesson will be HPE. This will allow all national students to participate in both Jiu-Jitsu and HPE.
