H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Inaugurates Abu Dhabi Kindergarten – The Chinese School

Abu Dhabi -26 January 2010: His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) officially inaugurated the Abu Dhabi Kindergarten - the Chinese School. The school aims to prepare UAE citizens to help build cultural ties between Arab and Chinese cultures, through the tool of shared language. The Abu Dhabi Kindergarten represents a model for educational excellence at both the local and regional levels.
Present at the inauguration were: Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al-Khaili, Director General of ADEC; H.E. Gao Yushang, the Chinese Ambassador to UAE; Mr. Mohammed Salem Al-Dhaheri, Director of Abu Dhabi Education Zone; and Fatma Ahmad, Principal of Abu Dhabi Kindergarten - the Chinese School.
During the inauguration, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed said the Emirate of Abu Dhabi is currently witnessing a rapid and comprehensive transformation in the educational sector, and added that development of education is crucial to the social and economic growth of the country.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of providing Abu Dhabi students with quality education that focuses on creative and innovative thinking and problem-solving skills, through using modern teaching methodologies. He added that promoting UAE culture and traditions, and encouraging extracurricular and team-based activities in our schools would equip our students with the necessary skills to become the future leaders of the country.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed said the development of education programs that support the teaching of foreign languages will develop a new generation of well-prepared and internationally-minded students capable of adapting to change, meeting the needs of the labor market, and interacting with people of different cultures. This enhanced international awareness will be vital to keeping the UAE at the forefront of global technological, economic, and social developments.
“Our plan to develop the Abu Dhabi education sector will provide our citizens with the skills required to develop into Abu Dhabi into a capital of research and innovation. This will enable our citizens to achieve their aspirations to lead in various sectors, including energy, tourism, health, and education,” H.H. Sheikh Mohammed said.
During his visit, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed attended a musical show performed by the kindergarten students, toured classrooms where he met with the school principal and teachers, and visited Arabic, English and Chinese classes at the school.
