Private Schools

The development of a world-class education system with a large and empowered private education sector is a key priority for Abu Dhabi. Private education has a significant presence in the Emirate with over 180 private schools in the Emirate offering a range of curriculums, including: International Baccalaureate (IB), UAE Ministry of Education, British, American, French, Indian, and Filipino, amongst others. ADEC will be publishing lists of ADEC accredited schools soon to assist the community in identifying and locating private schools throughout the Emirate based on geographic location and other criteria.

ADEC’s private school division aims to ensure that:

The private school sector advances the educational objectives of the Emirate;

provides appropriate educational opportunities for all children;

provides a quality alternative to the public school system;

encourages competition among private schools that will lead to improved educational quality;

and effectively links private education with other technical and societal initiatives for the continuous improvement of the educational system of Abu Dhabi Emirate.

Due to the nature of private school sector which involves a number of different owners and school operators, ADEC aims to ensure adherence to high quality standards and to facilitate increased access to high quality private education for all individuals in Abu Dhabi’s community. All private schools are expected to adhere to ADEC’s minimum standards and will be evaluated through ADEC’s rigorous inspection process.
